Southampton fans were certainly not impressed by Fraser Forster’s performance during the defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

Southampton fans have been taking to Twitter following Fraser Forster’s display in their defeat to Manchester City, and while some defended the goalkeeper, many sent a clear message to the Saints hierarchy.
Forster has often been one of the more reliable performers within Claude Puel’s squad over the last couple of years, but has shown that he occasionally has the potential to have a day to forget.
Unfortunately for the Saints, the latest example came in the 3-0 loss to City at St Mary’s on Saturday. Though the England stopper made a handful of good stops throughout the game, he was also guilty of some mistakes, most notably, his attempt to keep out the first goal.
Vincent Kompany’s header 10 minutes after the break should have arguably produced a fairly comfortable save for the former Celtic man despite the ball bouncing around the six-yard line. But while he got some glove to it, the ball still managed to find the back of the net.

And there was certainly an argument to say that Forster should have been penalised for a challenge on Leroy Sane in the penalty area during the first-half.
Despite Forster often showing plenty of class since moving to the south coast, the Southampton fans were almost unanimous in their assessment of the goalkeeper on social media, suggesting to Puel that he is not good enough to be relied upon to be the Saints’ number one.
Here is the best of the reaction…
