Manchester City are reportedly plotting a historic new contract for Bernardo Silva after an incredible first half of the season.
According to the Sun, Pep Guardiola’s side are ready to almost double Silva’s wage to make the Portuguese international one of the top earners at the club alongside Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne.
The former AS Monaco star has been one of the outstanding players in the Premier League this season. Silva has bagged seven goals and an assist as City currently lead the league standings over the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.
Indeed, this contract update completes a stunning 180 for both City and Silva. The midfielder looked set to depart England in the summer, with reports suggesting that the 27-year-old was eager to move to Spain.
However, Silva remained with City and has since grown back into the form that once made the versatile playmaker one of the best players in the division, and now the Manchester giants look set to reward the midfielder with a massive contract.
As per the Sun, City are ready to hike Silva’s wage to up to £300,000, a contract that will make the Benfica academy graduate one of the best-paid players at the club and in the Premier League as a whole.
Whilst the wage increase is surprising, many City fans are in favour of the club handing Silva a new contract, with the 27-year-old one of Guardiola’s best players this campaign.
