'Please no, we're finished': Newcastle fans scared by what PIF have reportedly done

Graeme Jones has reportedly been told to take charge of one more Newcastle United match.

Saudi Public Investment Fund placed the 51-year-old in charge of Newcastle’s senior side on an interim basis after sacking Steve Bruce.

According to Jones, he was only given the role for two games.

Chelsea’s 3-0 win at St James’s Park on Saturday was the second Newcastle game that Bruce’s former assistant oversaw.

It was assumed, then, that United’s new owners had a long-term, permanent manager lined up to come in imminently.

But The Telegraph reported on Sunday night that Jones will also take the visit to Brighton & Hove Albion next weekend.

The Tyneside club are 19th in the Premier League table and six points adrift of safety.

In other words, they need stability as soon as possible.

Understandable

You can definitely understand the supporters’ annoyance.

It’s been less than a month since Saudi PIF and Amanda Staveley et al took control, ousting Mike Ashley from St James’s Park.

But the mood has progressively dampened since the takeover and now reality is staring Newcastle fans in the face.

If something doesn’t change quick, they’re going to be relegated from the Premier League, into the Championship.

If Jones is in charge at the Amex, it absolutely has to be his final game.
