Tottenham Hotspur fans do not believe that appointing Ryan Mason on a permanent basis would be the answer to their problems.
The Daily Mirror write in their print edition (02/05/21 – page 69) that there is a growing belief around Spurs that Mason could land the job on a permanent basis.
Mason has made an encouraging start at Tottenham, where he has led the side to victories in his first two Premier League matches in charge.
But most Tottenham fans believe that bringing in Mason for a longer-term basis right now would be a miss-step, given his inexperience.
It is indeed hard to suggest that going from Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho to Mason wouldn’t be a downgrade at this current stage.
While Mason may well have a very bright future in football, at the age of 29 – there would surely be some doubts whether he is ready to step into a side with such lofty ambitions as Tottenham.
Mason does seem to have unified the squad during his time in charge though, and he is already getting the best out of Gareth Bale.
If Tottenham can make it into the top four, which would surely require them to win every one of their remaining games, then opinions may change.
But at the moment, it seems that most Spurs fans would like to see Mason step back into their coaching set-up, until a point where he gains slightly more experience.
