Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter after finding out who will oversee the game against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.
As tweeted by the Liverpool Echo’s Ian Doyle, Paul Tierney will referee the game, with Andy Madley overseeing VAR duties.
Tierney has overseen Liverpool 2-1 win against Chelsea, and also the 0-0 draws against Newcastle and Manchester United this term.
Now, this news doesn’t seem to have gone down too well with the Liverpool fans on Twitter, and you can understand why.
Tierney angered both Jürgen Klopp and Jordan Henderson with a poor decision made in the aforementioned draw against Manchester United.
Thiago Alcântara had just played a delightful through ball into Sadio Mané’s path, with only 55 of the 60 seconds added on by Tierney played.

However, the 40-year-old blew for half-time with the Liverpool No.10 about to be through on goal.
After full-time, Henderson called the decision a ‘very strange‘ one, while Klopp was visibly confused on the touchline as talkSPORT show.
Graeme Souness also described the call as ‘frustrating‘ when speaking on Sky Sports at half-time.

Hopefully, there will be no such drama at Anfield this Saturday.
Let’s see how the Liverpool fans reacted to Tierney and Madley’s appointments for the Villa clash…
