Arsenal supporters have called for Gabriel Martinelli to start against Leeds United, after a video was published of him scoring in training yesterday.
Arsenal drew a blank in their last game against Aston Villa, and Mikel Arteta is now expected to make changes to his side’s attack on Sunday.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang looks the most likely player to come into Arsenal’s starting line-up, with Martin Odegaard also surely having a chance.
But many Arsenal fans believe that Arteta shouldn’t stop there, and they have called for Martinelli to be unleashed from the offset.
Martinelli is still waiting to break back into Arsenal’s starting line-up on a regular basis after injury.
The £6 million Brazilian (Telegraph) missed much of the early part of the campaign, and since he has returned he has generally only played a rotational role.
Martinelli’s speed and pressing ability could be useful against a side like Leeds at the weekend though, as they do leave spaces to attack on the counter.
If Arsenal are able to beat Leeds they will leapfrog Marcelo Bielsa’s men and move back into the top half of the Premier League table.
