Roberto Martinez has reportedly emerged as somebody who Tottenham Hotspur could genuinely hire as Jose Mourinho’s long-term replacement in North London.

Tottenham are in the market for a new manager after parting company with Mourinho a little earlier this week.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has put 29-year-old Ryan Mason in charge of the senior team on an interim basis but with his inexperience, the Lilywhites are going to need somebody established to replace a big-name coach like the Portuguese.

And according to Sport Magazine in Spain, Levy could turn to Belgium manager Martinez, who has previously managed Wigan Athletic and Everton in the Premier League.

Any move for the Spaniard would come after Euro 2020 and here’s how some Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to the possibility of hiring the 47-year-old.

Of course, these tweets are only from a minority of Tottenham fans on social media.

But you do get the feeling that Martinez would be quite an underwhelming appointment, considering that Mourinho is one of the biggest names in world football as far as management goes.

That being said, there are other names reportedly on Levy’s shortlist and The Times has reported this week that Julian Nagelsmann of Red Bull Leipzig is among them.
