Some Tottenham fans on social media are getting very excited after being linked with RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.
The French centre-back reportedly has a €30m (£26.5m) release clause that comes into effect this summer, and Spurs are amongst the clubs who are keen to sign him.
Speaking to Bild, as translated by TeamTalk, Christian Falk said that Tottenham are interested in Konate, a claim he would go on to back up on social media.
“Of course he’s in great demand,” Falk said.
“But he’s also got an exit clause of around €30m (£26.5million) plus that can be made possible this summer. Liverpool know that, United know that and Tottenham too.
“Leipzig have to be prepared for an exciting summer transfer window if they are to avoid losing two centre-backs come the end of it.”
Understandably, this sparked a wild reaction amongst the Spurs fanbase who are all very keen to see this one get over the line.
As you can imagine, comparisons were made to his French compatriot and Leipzig teammate Dayot Upamecano, and it seems as though Spurs fans believe him to be better than the Liverpool-linked centre-half.
It remains to be seen whether or not Tottenham can get this deal over the line, after all, they’re bound to have a lot of competition when his release clause becomes active.
However, if he does sign for Spurs, this will be an arrival that the fans will welcome with open arms.
Here’s what Tottenham fans have been saying about Konate on social media…
