Some Leicester City fans are taunting Chris Sutton after Celtic’s Europa League elimination.

Celtic were knocked out of the competition with two games still to play on Thursday, the same night on which Leicester qualified for the last-32.

The Foxes are managed, of course, by Brendan Rodgers, whom they prised from the Bhoys, his boyhood club, in February 2019.

Sutton struggled to get his head around Rodgers’ decision, telling BT Sport: “He has downsized. He has downgraded going to Leicester City – and that is a fact. Celtic reserves are bigger than Leicester City.”

And the following Leicester supporters have not forgotten what the former Celtic striker said, more than 18 months on.

Celtic’s Europa League elimination followed a second successive 4-1 defeat at the hands of Sparta Prague.

The result increases the pressure on the Bhoys manager, Neil Lennon, whose side already trail Rangers by 11 points at the top of the Scottish Premiership – albeit with two games in hand.

Afterwards, Sutton tweeted:

According to the Glaswegian Talksport host, Jim White, the Celtic chief executive, Peter Lawwell, recently played golf with the available former Bournemouth boss, Eddie Howe, who is one of the early favourites to replace Lennon.
