Guillem Balague has claimed that he wants to return to Celtic Park again after watching Real Madrid’s 3-0 win in the Champions League in Glasgow on Tuesday night.

The Spanish journalist added that the people of Glasgow ‘live football in such an amazing way’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (06/09/22 at 10:25 pm).

In the first half, the Scottish champions were showcasing all their might against the current European Cup holders.

From the get-go, they were in the faces of Madrid and they will be kicking themselves that they didn’t score in the first half.

Ange Postecoglou’s side just lacked that composure in the final third, and if they had opened the scoring, then it would have been a different ball game.

In the end, it wasn’t the next possible Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema that hurt Celtic, but substitute Eden Hazard, who grabbed a goal and an assist.

Nonetheless, Balague, who was sent to Celtic by CBS Sport to work on the game, urged the broadcaster to send him back again, as he shared his thoughts on last night’s match.

“Please, please bring me back,” said Balague. “Here or at Ibrox, it doesn’t matter. Glasgow lives football in such an amazing way.

“I am telling you, the first 40 minutes of the game Real Madrid are like ‘what is this?’ They couldn’t keep the ball. The pressure of Celtic was very effective.

“When they had the ball. They attacked. Hit the post and everybody agreed, including the Real Madrid players and the manager, that they deserved to go ahead.

“Yet, Real Madrid won partly because they were like ‘okay, let’s relax and control this’. And the last five minutes of the first half they started to do that. And then someone missing, in the case of Benzema, is somebody else’s win in Hazard, with an assist and a goal.”

If Celtic produce performances (first half) like this against Shakhtar Donetsk and RB Leipzig, then they have every chance of progressing through to the knockout stages.

At the end of the day, the Bhoys weren’t expected to get much against Madrid and they will probably walk this group.

But if big Ange can get Celtic out of this group, then it would be one incredible achievement, especially if you consider how much the club spends in comparison to others.
