Well, it’s safe to say that some Tottenham Hotspur fans aren’t completely behind the Nuno Espirito Santo appointment – if it happens.

The Telegraph reported today that Tottenham had agreed a deal in principle to hire the former Wolves boss.

According to AS in Spain, Nuno is just one step away from becoming Spurs’ new head coach and will sign a two-year deal.

Before this, the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte were heavily linked with being named as Jose Mourinho’s replacement.

We’re talking about some big names in the world of football and suffice to say that some supporters of the North London club are underwhelmed by Nuno.

Here’s what they’re saying:

This does seem like a step backwards for the Lilywhites.

We’re talking about a team who contested the Champions League final only two years ago, a team who broke their transfer record to sign £63 million a few weeks later, a team with a home worth £1 billion.

Spurs have made inroads toward becoming a huge club in recent years, mostly under Pochettino, and there is a sense that Nuno – whose Wolves side finished 13th in the Premier League last season – will struggle to live up to expectations.
