Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal remain keen on signing Manchester United target Lisandro Martinez from Ajax in the summer transfer window, according to 90min.

90min are reporting today that Ajax have increased their asking price for Arsenal and Manchester United target Martinez by £8.47m from €50 million (£42.31m) to €60 million (£50.78m).

Arsenal have had an opening bid for the Argentina international central defender turned down.

However, the Gunners remain keen on the 24-year-old, according to 90min, who have claimed that the Red Devils have made two bids for Martinez.

The player himself is claimed to prefer a move to Manchester United to a transfer to Arsenal.

Could Arsenal sign Lisandro Martinez?

In our view, Arsenal could struggle to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax in the summer transfer window.

If the defender himself prefers a move to Old Trafford, then it is unlikely that he would want to move to Arsenal.

Moreover, we do not think that the Gunners should pay €60 million (£50.78m) for another centre-back.

Ben White and Gabriel did well last season, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will also have William Saliba at his disposal now.

Yes, of course, more quality options are always welcomed, but not at a hefty price.
