Fashion Sakala will confirm his move to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers imminently, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Rangers want to sign Sakala on a four-year contract on a free transfer in the summer transfer window, and that the Zambia international striker will confirm the deal this weekend.

The report has claimed that the 24-year-old striker will officially announce a move after his club Oostende’s game with Standard Liege on Saturday night.

The Daily Record has quoted Sakala as saying: “The club grants me that transfer, everything will be completed this week. I want to make my choice known after the match against Standard on Saturday.”

Good signing for Rangers?

According to WhoScored, Sakala has made 26 starts and two substitute appearances in the Jupiler Pro League this season, scoring 13 goals and providing two assists in the process.

The striker is a good player and is at the right age to make the move from a club in Belgium to Rangers.

Rangers have won the Scottish Premiership title this season and could play in the Champions League in 2021-22.

Manager Steven Gerrard could do with strengthening the squad, and although the Gers are well stocked in attack, a spot could open up.

Jermain Defoe is out of contract at Rangers at the end of the season, and if the former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United striker leaves, then Sakala could fill in.

Jack Hendry is on loan at Oostende from Celtic at the moment, and the 25-year-old central defender raved about his teammate Sakala in The Scottish Sun in January 2021, saying: “He’s very quick and scored another couple of goals for Oostende last weekend.

“He’s a player with real potential. He is not the finished product but he has definitely got the potential to kick on.”
