It’s that time of year again when LIV Golf begin making changes, not only regarding new signings but concerning players switching teams as well.
The days of LIV Golf making blockbuster signings seem to be over, as they head down a more pragmatic route.
Frenchman Victor Perez was the latest confirmed signing for LIV earlier this week, while Laurie Canter is set to return to the Saudi-backed golf league.
LIV recently switched their format to 72 holes in the hope that they will be better placed to obtain world ranking points as a result.
In turn, many believed that would lead to LIV making some major new signings this winter but as things stand, they have been unable to tempt any big names away from the PGA Tour.
In what is perhaps a sad indictment of LIV’s standing in the game right now, the biggest news coming out of the Saudi-backed league is one of their players switching teams.
Abraham Ancer Player is set to switch teams in the 2026 season
It has been reported that Abraham Ancer will leave the Fireballs ahead of the 2026 season.
According to a report from Ten Golf, Ancer will join Torque GC imminently, with the Fireballs making space for the arrival of Luis Masaveu.

Interestingly, Masaveu played nine events on LIV Golf in 2025, earning $1.5 million before leaving to focus on playing the Challenge Tour in Europe.
Abraham Ancer’s 2026 LIV Golf season in numbers
Ancer won a LIV event in 2024 but he was nowhere near his best in 2025.
The Mexican star recorded only three top-10 finishes in 13 events this year.
Ancer’s best finish was a T-2 in Adelaide back in February but he didn’t do enough to win throughout the season.
Perhaps he needed a change and being part of Joaquin Niemann’s Torque GC next season may well give him the spark he needs to rediscover his best form.
The 34-year-old will be desperate to get back inside the winner’s circle in 2026 but a lot of hard work will be needed this winter if he is to do just that.
