Ibai Gomez has congratulated Leeds United on Twitter on winning automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds have finished the 2019-20 Championship campaign as winners and will play in the top flight of English football next season.
It will be the first time that the West Yorkshire outfit will feature in the Premier League since 2004.
Gomez played under Marcelo Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao, and the 30-year-old – who can operate as a winger or as a forward – is pleased to see the Argentine guide the Whites to promotion from the Championship.
Interestingly, the attacker was linked with a move to Leeds back in January 2019.
Gomez told Mundo Deportivo in January 2019 that Leeds made him an offer, but he turned them down to return to Athletic from Alaves.
Meanwhile, German club Borussia Dortmund have congratulated Leeds on Twitter on their return to the Premier League.
Back in the top flight
It will be interesting to see how Leeds approach next season, whether the Whites spend big in the summer transfer window or they keep most of the players in the current squad.
