According to The Athletic, Markus Krosche has emerged as an option for Liverpool as the Reds look for a replacement for Julian Ward.
The Reds are in need of a new Sporting Director after Ward decided he will be leaving the club this summer, and the Merseyside club are looking towards Germany for a potential solution.
Krosche has worked wonders with Eintrach Frankfurt in recent years, taking them from mid-table to Champions League with a number of shrewd additions propelling them up the table.
It’s fair to assume that a few of Krosche’s Frankfurt stars could follow him to Anfield, and there’s one player shining in Germany who would be more than open to a move to Liverpool.
Indeed, we’re talking about Mario Gotze.

The World Cup hero was a target for the Reds a few years ago, but he turned down the chance to move to Anfield at that moment in time.
Since then, he’s gone on the record to state that he should have joined the Reds when he had the chance.
“I wasn’t in a state of mind where I could consider it, that’s why it didn’t happen,” Gotze told Bild.
“Do I regret it? It’s always difficult to look back but if you ask me now, then yeah, I should have joined Liverpool for sure. I just made a wrong decision but it’s not a regret.”
At the age of 30, Gotze is finally getting back to something close to his best. His fitness isn’t letting him down anymore – he’s started 21 league games this season, and his quality is shining through.
With Krosche potentially on his way to Anfield and Liverpool needing a midfield overhaul, Gotze could potentially, once again, be in line for a dream move to Anfield this summer.
Don’t be shocked if Krosche brings Gotze with him from Frankfurt if he replaces Ward at Liverpool.
