According to 90min, Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are open to loaning out Charlie McNeill, a player who left Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for the Red Devils in 2020.

Former Manchester City prospect could leave Manchester United on loan

McNeill is reportedly a boyhood Manchester United fan, and he joined the former UEFA Champions League winners from Manchester City in 2020.

According to 90min, United paid City an initial fee of £750,000 for the striker.

McNeill reportedly scored over 600 goals for the Citizens’ academy teams and is rated very highly in the footballing community.

90min are now reporting that Manchester United are willing to send the young striker out on loan in the January transfer window.

There is a lot of interest in the teenager as well.

Millwall, Preston North End, Blackpool, Barnsley and Blackpool all are keen on securing the services of the 19-year-old striker on a loan deal.

United are reportedly looking to bring in Wout Weghorst on a loan deal for the rest of the season, so a loan transfer of McNeill out of Old Trafford would make sense.

McNeill, who made his senior debut for United against Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League earlier this season, could do with playing regularly for a club in the Premier League and in the Championship.

What if…

However, you do wonder, though, if the teenager could have been part of the City first team now had he stayed at the defending Premier League champions.

Right-back Rico Lewis is only 18, but he is playing in the Premier League for City, and so is 20-year-old midfielder Cole Palmer.
