Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE that Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium is his favourite away ground.

The former Manchester United player has said that he loves the Emirates, and that it is “nice”.

The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international has also reflected on Arsenal’s interest in him in the summer of 2019.

Unai Emery recently told The Guardian that he asked Arsenal last summer to sign Zaha, but the Gunners brought Nicolas Pepe from Lille instead.

Zaha said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE when asked about his favourite away stadium: “Arsenal. I love their stadium, man. It’s nice.”

The winger added about Arsenal’s interest last summer: “It was nice. Supporting them and having them wanting you at the same time, leaves you thinking: ‘this is amazing.’

“But things never worked out so you just have to move on as quick as possible. I was thinking this may happen. But my whole family was watching and it just didn’t work out.”

Missed chance?

Zaha is one of the best attacking players in the Premier League outside the top six, and the 27-year-old would have been a great signing for Arsenal.

While Pepe has been inconsistent and has not always produced the goods, Zaha does well on a regular basis for Palace and knows the Premier League inside out.

Blessed with the ability to score goals and create chances, the winger also terrorises defenders with his pace, skills and tricks.

Stats

According to WhoScored, Zaha has made 28 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Palace so far this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in the process.

The winger scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 34 league games for the Eagles during the 2018-19 campaign, according to WhoScored.
