Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Troy Deeney has told The Sun that he is still good enough to play in the Premier League.

Deeney got relegated with Watford to the Championship at the end of last season.

The Daily Mail on September 1 reported that Tottenham are interested in signing the English striker in the summer transfer window.

West Bromwich Albion, who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship, are also reported to hold an interest in the 32-year-old striker.

Deeney told The Sun: “I definitely still see myself as a Premier League striker. I scored double figures last season on one leg. Now I’m over my knee troubles. I’m back on two legs.

“I got ten in the league from 27 games, which was not a bad return. I know it includes penalties but Bruno Fernandes scores penalties as well at Man United. I’m not comparing myself to Fernandes but I’ve scored the opportunities presented to me.

“How many did Sebastien Haller get last year for West Ham? Six or seven. Or Joelinton for Newcastle? Two. Put it into context: these are £40million players and I only cost £300,000. My time’s not up.”

Good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?

Harry Kane is the only senior out-and-out striker at Tottenham at the moment, and it is clear that the North London outfit need to bring in a back-up.

Deeney knows the Premier League inside out, and has done well in the top flight of English football with Watford.

The 32-year-old has a strong personality and is a leader on the pitch, and he would be a very good signing for Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

According to WhoScored, Deeney scored 10 goals and provided two assists in the league last season, while in 2018-19, he scored nine goals and provided five assists in the league.
