Steve Cook has suggested to the Bournemouth Echo that he is disappointed that Harry Wilson didn’t get a move to Leeds United or Burnley this summer.
Wilson was said to be high up on Leeds’ and Burnley’s radars in the summer by Wales Online, but neither of the Premier League duo managed to seal a deal.
Liverpool were demanding £20 million for the winger (Liverpool Echo), and both Leeds and Burnley ultimately deemed the transfer to be too expensive.
In the end, Wilson missed on a top level move altogether – and has now gone out on loan to Cardiff City in the Championship.
Wilson should be one of the standout players in the second tier, but Cook has suggested that he was disappointed for his former teammate that no Premier League side managed to sign him.
“I was really good friends with Harry when he was here and still speak to him now,” Cook said.

“I was disappointed for him because I felt like he deserved to stay in the Premier League. He’s a top quality player so Cardiff have been very shrewd in bringing him in.”
If Leeds or Burnley had got hold of Wilson he could have helped either of them be a bigger attacking threat.
Leeds ultimately ended up signing Raphina from Rennes to strengthen their options down the flank, while Burnley continued to be frustrated in the transfer market and made very few additions over the summer.
