Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reportedly wants to bring Lewis Ferguson to Ibrox in the summer transfer window.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers want to secure the services of the midfielder, but Aberdeen are keen on keeping hold of the 20-year-old.

The Scotland Under-21 international is one of the best young players in the Scottish Premiership, and there is no surprise that he is reportedly on the radar of Rangers.

However, Ferguson has made it clear that he wants to play regularly next season and is not willing to sit on the substitutes’ bench.

Ferguson told BBC Sport: “I’m with the right people at the moment to go and kick on and progress my career.

“The only thing that’s going to make you a better player is playing games. There’s no point going to a bigger club with a bigger contract and sitting on the bench or not making squads.”

Rangers move

Ferguson is a regular for Aberdeen, and the midfielder can only get better in the coming years.

Rangers are a much bigger club than Aberdeen, and while one can understand the appeal of turning out for the Gers, Ferguson is right in his stance of playing games on a regular basis at this stage of his career.

Ferguson scored one goal and provided five assists in 28 Scottish Premiership matches for Aberdeen this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
