Leeds sold Leif Davis to Ipswich back in July, as Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta sanctioned a £1m exit for the promising talent.
The 22-year-old had just spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Bournemouth, helping the Cherries achieve promotion to the Premier League, although that was not enough to convince Marsch to keep him at Elland Road.
Now, the American may be regretting his decision.
What’s the story?
Well, some Leeds fans will argue that performing well in League One is a lot easier than delivering the goods in the Premier League, although the left-back’s displays cannot be ignored.
Davis – who Marcelo Bielsa once called “great” – has impressively provided seven assists in 22 League One appearances so far this season, making a real impact going forward with his excellent technical ability.
It comes amid a difficult time for Leeds as far as the left-back department is concerned.
Marsch has been forced to use Pascal Struijk on the left of defence after Junior Firpo suffered a serious knee injury back in the summer, with depth in that area severely lacking.

Of course, nobody knows if Davis would have been able to translate his excellent performances in League One to the Premier League had he been given a chance this season.
However, the Newcastle-born prospect certainly seems to be someone Leeds should’ve loaned out for one more season, rather than offload for good.
Kalvin Phillips was upset by Leeds selling Leif Davis
When Davis officially joined Ipswich, Kalvin Phillips seemed saddened by the news.
The England international posted a crying emoji in the comments section when the young Englishman told his followers about his move to Portman Road, as covered on HITC at the time.
Marsch has given plenty of talented youngsters chances to impress in Yorkshire, such as Crysencio Summerville, Sam Greenwood and Willy Gnonto, so it was very strange to see the American effectively give up on Davis.
Hopefully, he can continue to shine at Ipswich – if he does, maybe one day we’ll see him back in the Premier League, whether that’s with Leeds or another side.
