Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier has raved about his teammate Dele Alli in The Guardian.
Dier, who can play as a defensive midfielder or as a defender, hopes his Spurs teammate is back in the England fold soon.
The 24-year-old midfielder is not part of the current Three Lions’ set-up, with the player having lost his place in the Tottenham starting line-up under head coach Jose Mourinho.
Dier believes Alli remains a very good player, and hopes his form gets better in the coming weeks and months, and he has admitted the former Milton Keynes Dons man is going through a tough time.
The 26-year-old told The Guardian about Alli: “I wasn’t in it (England team) for a year and a bit. It’s definitely possible for someone of his quality.
“He’s still a fantastic player. You don’t lose that overnight. He’s going through a difficult time. There’s always going to be moments like these.
“Everyone has them in their careers and Dele’s got a fantastic personality. I’m sure he’s going to get down to work and try and get back to where he was a year ago or so.
“It’s really in his hands and I’m looking forward to seeing his reaction over the next couple of months. I’m sure he’s going to be highly motivated.”

Bouncing back
Alli hasn’t progressed much over the past year or so, but the midfielder remains a quality footballer.
The Englishman is still relatively young at the age of 24, and if he works hard in training and does what he is told by Mourinho, then he will get better in the coming weeks and months.
It is probably hard for Alli to find himself dropped out of Tottenham matchday squads at times this season and not be involved in the England set-up, but it could lead him to step up his game and get back to his best.
