Wes Foderingham has said on Open Goal that Leeds United wanted him before he moved to Rangers.
Foderingham, who has just been released by Rangers, joined the Gers on a free transfer in the summer of 2015 after leaving Swindon Town.
The 29-year-old has said that he spoke to then Leeds head coach Uwe Rosler, but he did not feel that switching to Elland Road would have been a good move for his career at the time.
Foderingham said on Open Goal: “I spoke to Uwe Roser on the phone at the time. He was at Leeds.
“He was saying, ‘We want you to maybe come in to Leeds’. They had an Italian keeper at the time, and I just felt as if that wasn’t the right option for me.”
What about Leeds United move now?
Foderingham said on Open Goal that he plans to move back to England this summer and find a club there.
Could Foderingham be back at Leeds for next season and beyond? Kiko Casilla is the first-choice goalkeeper at Elland Road, but he could do with some serious competition.
Illan Meslier, on loan from Lorient, is only 20 years of age, while having gained experience at a massive club such as Rangers, Foderingham is ready now to play for Leeds, either in the Championship or in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Leeds youngster Tyler Roberts has said that Pablo Hernandez is “special”, but he has stated that he rates his Wales international teammate Gareth Bale more.
Roberts said during a Q&A session on Leeds’s official Twitter Page: “I have got to go with Bale. Pablo is a special player and done a lot of great things.
“Bale is just in a different world to most players in the world, isn’t he? So it has to be Bale.”
