Newcastle United and Manchester United have been left disappointed over their pursuit of Leeds United defender Robin Koch, with the German rejecting their overtures in favour of a move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
That’s according to the German publication, BILD, who claim that the Germany international rejected the pair in favour of a move to the Bundesliga.
Robin Koch turned down Newcastle United and Manchester United
With ‘lucrative offers’ coming from Premier League duo Newcastle United and Manchester United, Robin Koch turned them down as he bids to make the Germany squad for next summer’s European Championship.
Newcastle were reportedly interested as they seek more cover for Sven Botman and Fabian Schar, and the German defender represented an exciting option for the Magpies.
Koch would have also been a cost-effective solution as Newcastle bid to add to their squad, as they are in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in over 20 years.
Manchester United were also seemingly ‘intensively’ scouting a bargain move for the Leeds defender before he moved on loan to German club Frankfurt.
The Red Devils were also interested in signing Kim-Min Jae from Napoli, but, Bayern Munich swooped in and agreed personal terms with the South Korean defender and are preparing to trigger the release clause in the centre-back’s contract.

With the European Championship being held in Germany next summer, Koch gave an interview about his move to the Bundesliga this summer, as relayed by SportWitness.
The defender said: “You couldn’t miss what was developing in Frankfurt, also internationally,. And you have seen that you can come back to the national team via Eintracht. That’s a big goal for me.”
The defender joined Frankfurt for an initial loan before turning the loan into a permanent deal next summer.
Koch will be hoping he does well in the Bundesliga as spots are up for grabs in the Germany national team.
