According to The Mirror, Liverpool are favourites to sign Thiago from Bayern in the summer transfer window.
Bayern goalkeeper Neuer has spoken highly of the 29-year-old, and has admitted that it would be a big loss for his team if the Spain international leaves.
The Mirror quotes Neuer as saying about Thiago: “He’s a very valuable player for us, especially in ball possession. He’s very important for us. He’s our engine in midfield actually.”
Bayern head coach Hans-Dieter Flick has also given his take on the 29-year-old’s future.
Flick told Sport1, as translated by Goal.com: “I can understand when a player is concerned. Thiago played in Spain for FC Barcelona and in the Bundesliga for FC Bayern Munich.
“If he wants to try again in the Premier League now, I totally understand. But it would be a shame because Thiago gives our game that certain something.
“That’s why I would like, as a coach, to have him on the team for the next few years, but that’s life. It would go on.”
Good signing for Liverpool?
Thiago is one of the best midfielders in the world, and he would make Liverpool stronger in the middle of the park.
True, the Reds won the Premier League title this past season and have a very strong team, but a player of Thiago’s quality and experience would make Jurgen Klopp’s side even better and stronger.
Thiago is a serial winner, having won multiples titles at Barcelona and Bayern, and he would bring that with him to Anfield.
According to WhoScored, Thiago made 20 starts and four substitute appearances in the Bundesliga, and has played six times in the Champions League for Bayern this past season.
