Liverpool right-back Neco Williams has raved about Adam Lallana on the club’s official website.
Williams trained with Lallana, and the 19-year-old has spoken highly of the 32-year-old midfielder.
The England international was on the books of Liverpool from 2014 until the summer of 2020 when the Reds decided to release him.
Lallana was out of contract at Liverpool at the end of last season, and the former Southampton midfielder left on a free transfer and moved to Premier League rivals Southampton.
Brighton will take on Liverpool at home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, but Lallana is doubtful for the match.
Williams told Liverpool’s official website about Lallana: “The first day I went up to Melwood, he was there talking to me and giving me advice. With Adam, he’s a top athlete and a top player. When my breakout season came, he helped me massively.
“Adz would be a leader on the team and he would be the first one to tell you if you do something bad or give the ball away – he’d be the first one on you. But if you do something right or do something well, he’d be the first one to say, ‘Well done’ and applaud you. Having someone like him in the team was incredible and he massively made me comfortable in the team.”
The right-back added: “For me, I’d say he’s one of the best trainers I’ve ever trained with and played with. He’s a top athlete and when we used to do training, in my opinion, he was the best trainer every single day.”

Sensible decision
Lallana had injury problems during his time at Liverpool, and when he was fit and available, there was a fierce competition for places.
It made sense for the England international to leave the Reds in the summer of 2020, as there was no point in him simply warming the substitutes’ bench.
According to WhoScored, Lallana has made seven starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Brighton so far this season, providing one assist in the process.
