Well, Rangers have officially missed out on an exciting transfer target.

In January, Scotland-based publication The Record claimed that Rangers were interested in signing Pablo Torre.

The 18-year-old has been catching the eye following his performances for Racing Santander this season.

And naturally, the Ibrox outfit, managed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, were said to be keen on bringing the Spaniard to Glasgow.

However, Fabrizio Romano has delivered bad news for Rangers in this regard.

The Italian journalist revealed that the teenage prospect has instead elected to join Xavi’s Barcelona.

Originally, Torre will join up with the B outfit in Catalunya but, longer term, he could very possibly make waves in the senior side.

The Liga outfit clearly have high hopes for him, evident by the fact that his release clause at Barcelona is £82 million – according to Romano.

Here’s what he tweeted about the Rangers-linked sensation:

The loan system is a good one and Rangers could potentially enquire about signing him on a temporary basis this summer.

Cutting your teeth in Scotland could be ideal for young Spaniards and who knows, perhaps this isn’t the end of the light Blues’ interest.

But signing him permanently? Well that dream is dead.
