Leeds United have missed out on Rafinha to Paris Saint-Germain, with the Premier League club having reportedly been interested in the now former Barcelona midfielder in the summer transfer widnow.
Sport reported on September 5 that Leeds were looking to sign the 27-year-old from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, as covered by HITC Sport here.
The report claimed that the Premier League club and the Spanish giants were in early talks, with the Blaugrana looking for €16 million (£14.52 million) as transfer fee for the 27-year-old.
However, it seems that nothing materialised after those reported early talks, as the brother of Liverpool central midfielder Thiago Alcantara joined PSG from Barcelona on summer transfer deadline day.
As announced on PSG’s official website, the French club have signed the Brazil international midfielder from Barca on a contract that runs until June 30, 2023.
This means that Rafinha will now play alongside likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria, and will be aiming to win Ligue 1 and the Champions League this season.
As for Leeds, Marcelo Bielsa’s side will hope to push for a top-10 finish in the Premier League table this season.
