Leeds United were keen on signing Ryan Kent from Rangers in the summer transfer window, but the Premier League club were left disappointed in their pursuit of the winger.
The Times reported in August that Leeds had made a bid of £10 million for the 23-year-old, but it was turned down by the Gers.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard himself confirmed the offer from the West Yorkshire club, as quoted on talkSPORT in August.
Gerrard told talkSPORT in August: “The message for sure is ‘hands off’. Ryan is a player we admire very much here. He’s a player we’ve seen develop at Liverpool for a long time then brought him here and he did ever so well on loan.
“We went and bought Ryan and showed a lot of faith in him and he’s progressing very, very quickly here. He’s in a good place and a player we want to keep hold of. But yes we have had contact from Leeds and an opening bid has been really strongly rejected.”
The former Liverpool winger is still at Rangers, while Leeds went on to sign Raphinha from Rennes.

Kent has been brilliant for the Gers so far this season, and former Rangers and Denmark international star Peter Lovenkrands’s new comments about the winger show just what Leeds missed out on.
Lovenkrands told The Daily Record: “Kent is the best player in Scottish football this season. No-one is doing what he’s doing right now.
“He started the season in fantastic form, scoring goals and his end product has got better. Every time he gets the ball it looks like Rangers will create or score a goal.”
Big player for Rangers
According to WhoScored, Kent has scored four goals and provided one assist in 10 Scottish Premiership games for the Ibrox club this season.
The former Liverpool man is a hugely important player for the Gers, who are aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title this season and were never really going to sell Kent in the summer transfer window.
