Leeds and Everton both wanted to sign Daryl Dike in 2022 as the American received admiring glances from the Premier League.
It was TEAMtalk who claimed that Leeds and Everton were keen to sign the United States international, who put his name up in lights in English football with some stunning displays for Barnsley in the 2020/21 campaign.
Eventually, Leeds and Everton missed out on Dike to West Brom as the Baggies wrapped up a £7m deal in January 2022 – now, however, it seems the Premier League duo may have dodged a bullet.
What’s the story?
Well, Dike has been plagued by injuries since Leeds and Everton missed out.
Sadly, the West Brom No.12 damaged his Achilles in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Stoke.
It means Dike has now suffered three major injuries in the past 15 months, missing 31 games in total for West Brom since the Baggies signed him from Orlando City.
It is a devastating development for the American, to say the least.
While Leeds and Everton will surely be upset to hear about how Dike’s career has stalled in recent times, the Premier League duo will presumably feel some relief that they didn’t win the race for his signature.
Leeds & Everton could face Dike
If things continue the way they are, Leeds and Everton will probably be facing Dike in the Championship next season when he recovers from his Achilles injury.
Both Javi Gracia and Sean Dyche are watching their respective sides fall apart just when they need them to stick together.

Leeds have conceded 11 goals in just two games after suffering a 5-1 defeat and a 6-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace and Liverpool respectively.
In regards to Everton, the defending on show in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Fulham was abysmal, and the Toffees will surely go down if they keep playing like that.
