Reported Leeds United and Newcastle United target Danny Rose has said on the Second Captions podcast that he wants to stay at Tottenham Hotspur.

Rose is out of contract at Tottenham in the summer of 2021, and the England international left-back has made it clear that he wants to see out his current deal.

This will come as a blow for both Leeds and Newcastle, with the two clubs claimed to be interested in signing the 30-year-old in the summer transfer window.

According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle manager Steve Bruce wants to have Rose back at St. James’ Park for next season, with the former Leeds prospect having spent the second half of the 2019-20 campaign on loan at the Magpies.

The Mail on Sunday (print edition, page 151, August 2, 2020) has claimed that Leeds are interested in the defender, and that Spurs are open to letting him leave for free.

The Daily Star has also credited Marcelo Bielsa’s side – who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship – with interest in Rose.

Rose said on the Second Captions podcast, as transcribed by The Northern Echo: “I am very happy to stay at Tottenham and see my last ten or 11 months out, I would love to. There is nothing I want more than to play one more time in front of the fans.

“My last game for Spurs was a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool and at the time I didn’t know that was going to be or could be my last game for Spurs. I want nothing more than to play in front of the Tottenham fans one more time, just to cherish all the moments we have had over the years with them.

“They have always been good to me, I have possibly given them reasons in the past not to be so good to me, but they know when it was game time I gave everything for them. I will continue to do that as long as I am contracted to Tottenham.”

Tottenham Hotspur stay

Rose is a very good left-back, and although the Englishman has not been at his best for a while, he can be an asset for Spurs next season, with the North London outfit aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table.
