Brandon Williams is a player in demand, with Everton and Newcastle United linked with the Manchester United left-back.

According to The Athletic, Everton are genuine contenders to sign Williams on loan from Premier League rivals United in the January transfer window.

The Manchester Evening News has claimed that Newcastle have expressed interest in the youngster, who finds a move to Southampton appealing.

The report has added that the 20-year-old left-back – who is rated highly by former United right-back Gary Neville – is open to a loan move away from Old Trafford and prefers a switch to a club in Premier League.

Everton or Newcastle United?

Wiliams needs playing time at this stage of his career, and if he is to go somewhere on loan, then he should get some assurance.

Lucas Digne is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and is now back to full fitness, meaning that it would be hard for Williams to get much playing time between now and the end of the season at Goodison Park.

Given the versatility of Williams – he can play at right-back and wing-back as well – perhaps he could get his chance at Newcastle.
