Eddie Nketiah and Luke Ayling praised one-time Leeds loan player, Ben White, on Instagram after he made his full England debut on Sunday.

The Three Lions recorded a 1-0 friendly win against Romania, with White starting at the back and Leeds United’s, Kalvin Phillips, starting ahead of him in the middle of the park.

Only 12 months ago, the duo were helping Leeds earn promotion, and only yesterday, they were playing on one of the biggest stages of them all with their country.

White shared on Instagram after the game that he ‘loved every minute’ of playing for England.

And it just goes to show how far the ball-playing defender has come since he first stepped foot into Elland Road as an unknown figure all those months ago.

Arsenal striker, Nketiah, who was at Leeds last season, commented on White’s Instagram by stating that he is a ‘player’, whilst Ayling simply wrote: ‘Love to see it’.

Adam Lallana, his current Brighton teammate, shared that he was ‘class’, as White received numerous amounts of praise from his fellow professionals.

White hasn’t been selected in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for Euro 2020, but with one place now available after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury, he hasn’t done himself any harm in being selected following yesterday’s performance.

Given that England have problems in defence, and it doesn’t look like Harry Maguire will be fit for the group games, then it might be wise to select the Brighton man.

Plus, Southgate also needs to factor in White’s capability of playing in a back three and in the middle of the park.
