Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz could be tempted to move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, but there are stumbling blocks.
That is according to TEAMtalk, who has claimed that Arsenal are keen on signing Luiz in the middle of the season.
So, what is being reported about Arsenal, Aston Villa and Douglas Luiz?
Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
Well, according to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are ready to make a bid for Aston Villa and Brazil international midfielder Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window.
The report has claimed that Luiz himself could be tempted to “move” to Arsenal, who are aiming to win the Premier League title and are also playing in the UEFA Champions League this season.
The lure of playing under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is also there for the 25-year-old Brazil international midfielder.

However, there are two stumbling blocks.
First of all, Villa are not actively looking to sell Luiz.
The Villans will want at least £60 million for the Brazilian.
Secondly, Villa, now managed by former Arsenal boss Unai Emery, are not happy “with some of the tactics employed by the 2022/23 Premier League runners-up to try to persuade the 25-year-old that he should make the move to north London”.
My View: Aston Villa won’t sell Douglas Luiz to Arsenal in January
I do not think that Aston Villa will sell Douglas Luiz to Arsenal in the January transfer window.
No way.
Yes, £60 million is a lot of money, and Arsenal could decide to pay it.
After all, the North London club are aiming to win the Premier League title this season.
But, I do not think that Villa will sell the Brazil international midfielder in the middle of the season, especially if they are in a good position to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Villa are a big and established club in the Premier League who are going places under manager Unai Emery.
Moreover, Emery will surely not want to sell Luiz, one of his best players, to a club that sacked him.
