Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has raved about Diogo Jota on the club’s official website.

Jota has not played since December 2020 due to injury, but the former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger is back training with his Liverpool teammates.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that the 24-year-old winger could be in the matchday squad against Sheffield United on Sunday.

Scotland international left-back Robertson is delighted to have Jota back in training, and believes that he has raised the quality of the sessions.

Robertson told Liverpool’s official website about Jota: “In a really tough week for a few reasons, of course, seeing Diogo back on the pitch brought a smile to everyone’s face.

“He was flying up until his injury, he really made an impact coming into the team, a new signing hitting the ground running with goals, assists and the way he was going about his business.

“So, great to have him back. He has obviously been out for a long period of time, he’s looking really good in training, looking sharp. So, I’m sure he’s looking to make up for lost time.

“It’s good to have that option, great to have him back and it’ll be good to have him back involved in the squad. He has certainly brought an extra quality to training, long may that continue and hopefully he can score some of the goals he scored at the start of the season because, like I said, he was making a huge impact on this club.”

Big boost for Liverpool

According to WhoScored, Jota has scored five goals in nine Premier League appearances and has scored four goals in six Champions League games for Liverpool so far this season.

The winger was in superb form before he got injured, and the former Wolves star will be determined to get back to it.

Of course, it will take a while for Jota to get used to the rhythm again, but Liverpool fans should be optimistic about seeing the best of the winger in the coming weeks.

The Merseyside club are aiming to finish in the Premier League top four and win the Champions League this season.
