When Leeds United sold Marco Silvestri to Hellas Verona in 2017 very few dissenting voices were raised around Elland Road.
The Italian stopper had put in some error strewn performances in his three years at Leeds, and came in for a great deal of criticism during his time at the club.
New Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen decided that one of his first jobs was to ship out Silvestri, with many Whites fans just grateful to receive a fee for the 29-year-old.
However, Silvestri’s career has gone from strength to strength after that date.
The stopper is now excelling in Italy’s top flight and he made it into the OPTA team of the season so far.
Verona are actually putting together a fairly impressive season, where they sit in eighth place in the table.
Leeds are unlikely to feel that they made an error letting go of Silvestri, given that his eccentric performances never really suited the English game.
But his talents are becoming more and more evident, and his progress may surprise many at Elland Road.
