Kalvin Phillips recently sat down with the ‘Leeds, That‘ podcast in which he spoke about a lot of different topics at Elland Road.
One name which came up in discussion with the 24-year-old was Leif Davis, a promising youngster at just 20 years of age.
When talking about Davis, Phillips said: ‘He’s that good of a player. If he just settled down a little bit and screwed his head on a little bit he’d be up there as one of the best left-backs, left midfielders, centre-halves we’ve got.’
This snippet of information is very interesting, seeing as Marcelo Bielsa has only started the Newcastle-born youngster on five occasions since arriving at Elland Road.
Davis has made 12 first-team appearances in total, but Transfermarkt shows that only five of those outings have been starts.
The former Morecambe man is a versatile presence, who can play at either left-back or centre-back according to Transfermarkt – Phillips’ comments suggest he can even operate at left-midfield.

For a player with such little first-team experience to be tipped as a potential star in Bielsa’s ranks is a big statement.
It will be interesting to see if Davis lives up to such praise.

The ex-Marseille boss must see something in the youngster, having trusted him to come on as a substitute against Manchester City earlier this season for his Premier League debut.
All he needs to do, by the sounds of it, is get his head ‘screwed’ on and ‘settle down’ as Phillips mentions.
