Speaking to AS, Leeds United loanee Kiko Casilla has addressed his future in West Yorkshire, suggesting that he may never play for Leeds again.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been sent out on loan for the upcoming season, joining Elche on a temporary deal, and it sounds as though he isn’t keen to come back to England.
Indeed, Casilla says that it will be difficult for him to return to England, stating that his intention is to stay in his home country.
What’s been said?
Casilla was speaking about his loan move and his future.
“I have done like a reset to mark a point and apart. It will be difficult for me to return to England. Returning to the Spanish league is an interesting challenge that makes me very excited,” Casilla said.
The goalkeeper then addressed his future once again later in the interview:
“Six months ago I had the thought of returning to the Spanish league. I want to thank Leeds, especially Víctor Orta, for all the facilities they gave me to leave. He knows what I can give to this club. It is a normal and current option until the end of the season, but when it ends, if all goes well, there would be no problems to continue. My intention is to stay in Spain.”

No surprise
It’s not all that shocking to hear that Casilla isn’t planning on returning to Leeds.
The Spaniard isn’t the Whites’ first-choice goalkeeper, he’s been loaned out and he’s on massive wages.
The reality is that it may be best for all parties if he stays in Spain this summer, especially with Leeds on the verge of bringing another goalkeeper to Elland Road.
Bielsa may have described Casilla as ‘very influential’ last season, but the reality is that the Spaniard is no longer needed at Leeds.
Casilla may never play for Leeds again, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing for either him or the club.
