Edinson Cavani is a free agent at the moment and has been linked with Leeds United.
Cavani left Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, and the Uruguay international is available for transfer at the moment.
The 33-year-old striker played just 602 minutes in Ligue 1 for PSG last season, according to WhoScored, but he remains a striker on top of his game who would make Leeds a stronger and better team.
Interest from Leeds United
Patrick Bamford is the only senior out-and-out striker in Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who need to bring in a new player for that position.
Last month, Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani hinted at a move for the Uruguay international striker, as quoted on Football Italia and covered on HITC Sport here.
Football Italia quoted the Italian as saying: “In addition to his quality, Cavani could contribute with his physicality and adapt here, but I’ve never talked about him with the coach.
“Having said that, we’ve certainly thought about him and we’ll see, given he’s still available on a free transfer.”
ESPN Uruguay subsequently reported that the West Yorkshire outfit have made contact with the former Napoli star, as covered by HITC Sport.

Benfica talks
However, it seems that Cavani could be on his way to Benfica, with the striker saying that there have been meetings with the Portuguese club.
The striker has added that there have been meetings with clubs other than Benfica as well.
Goal.com quotes Cavani as saying: “There were meetings with Benfica and other clubs. But nothing is yet defined, so I cannot say that there is a closed agreement. When everything is confirmed with a team, they will know it.”
The striker added: “How can it not be a team that attracts me? And if there is the possibility for me to play there I will be delighted with life.”
Leeds United to miss out?
While it is not clear if Cavani has held a meeting with Leeds, it does seem unlikely that he will move to Leeds.
The Whites have just returned to the Premier League after 16 years, while Benfica finished second in the Portuguese league and could play in Champions League proper in 2020-21.
