James Milner has told BBC Sport that he was very impressed with Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow last night.
Newcastle held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw after putting in a spirited performance at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle defended well throughout the contest, but they did have Darlow to thank for preserving their clean sheet.
Liverpool managed to break through their defensive ranks on a few occasions, but Darlow was there every time to make a series of excellent stops.
Darlow produced one great stop against Mo Salah in the first-half, and also denied Roberto Firmino on more than one occasion.
And Milner was full of praise for the Newcastle man after the game.

“I thought they defended well and the keeper obviously played well but I thought we played well as well. We had enough opportunities to win the game but tonight it would not go in for us.
“We had a lot of chances and a few situations where the final cross or ball was not good enough. As a team we didn’t finish off our situations well enough and that was disappointing. It didn’t happen for us tonight.”
Darlow had been struggling for game time at Newcastle, but following an injury to Martin Dubravka he has really seized his chance.
The English stopper has now forced his way into Newcastle’s first-team, and he has made himself undroppable on his current form.
