Some Liverpool fans on social media have been calling for Jurgen Klopp to give Takumi Minamino more of a chance after his comments in the pre-match press conference ahead of their game against Aston Villa.
Klopp gave Minamino a glowing review in his press conference, saying that he’s very pleased with how he’s adapted to the Premier League after a year at the club.
“He is in a good shape – a really good shape – he developed, he got used to it. He was a good player when we signed him, obviously, but he got used to the intensity, the league, training, all this stuff,” Klopp said.
Understandably, these comments led to some fans wondering why he hasn’t been seen since scoring his first goal for the Reds against Crystal Palace, and luckily, Klopp also sees Minamino as a player who should be brought back into the fold.
“He made big steps. I know the last game he played was Crystal Palace and since then we didn’t win another [game], so we should think about involving him, obviously,” Klopp continued.
Fans were quick to ask Klopp to put Minamino into the team sooner rather than later, and luckily, it seems as though there’s going to be chances for the Japanese attacker in the coming weeks.
Of course, giving Minamino a chance is easier said than done, Liverpool’s front-three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino has been exceptional for a number of years now, so breaking those three up would be a big call.
