Some Tottenham Hotspur fans feel that Japhet Tanganga should be given an opportunity with Matt Doherty out at the weekend.

Doherty is set to miss Spurs’s game with Manchester City, as the Irish defender has been forced to self-isolate.

Serge Aurier looks like Tottenham’s most likely starter at right-back.

But some Spurs fans suggest that they would rather see Tanganga feature than the Ivorian.

Tanganga has missed much of this campaign with injury, but the Tottenham defender has previously proven his ability to play against the Premier League’s top sides.

Tanganga was chucked in to make his league debut against Liverpool, and also featured last season as Jose Mourinho’s side beat City 2-0.

On that occasion Tanganga actually started at left-back, but such is his versatility, the youngster could also shuffle across to the right.

If Tanganga did start for Spurs on Saturday he could offer them more defensive solidity than Aurier, but Mourinho’s side may lose some attacking quality from full-back.
