Ian Wright has suggested on the Wrighty’s House podcast that Arsenal should play Cedric Soares at left-back instead of Granit Xhaka.
Cedric has been left on the bench for Arsenal recently, with Xhaka filling in on the left-hand side of defence.
The Swiss international hasn’t looked entirely comfortable slotting in to replace the injured Kieran Tierney.
And Wright has claimed that Cedric is the man who should be starting at left-back right now, as he was signed to play in that position.
“Ideally for me you play Cedric Soares at left-back and put Xhaka back into midfield. He can keep the ball and keep it safe and give the pass that we need,” he said.
“It does not make me comfortable seeing Xhaka at left back and you could see with the first goal how easily they went by him. It’s not his thing, it’s not where he should be.
“Cedric Soares was bought and signed for four years to play at either right or left-back, play him man.”
It does seem rather baffling why Cedric has been overlooked by Mikel Arteta right now.

Arteta admitted at his press conference today that the Portuguese international had been unfortunate not to feature more.
Arteta’s desire to get Xhaka on the pitch for his leadership qualities is understandable.
But the Arsenal man’s lack of pace can really be exposed at full-back.
And if he does start at left-back, as looks likely, on Thursday that could be real area of concern for the Gunners.
