Speaking on the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily Podcast, Jermaine Jenas has said that Tottenham’s recent struggles are definitely down to Jose Mourinho.
The London outfit have lost each of their last three league games, and while you could put that down to a tough run of fixtures or a mounting injury list, Jenas believes that it’s on Mourinho.
“I’ve been in teams like that where you’re a bit lost and it’s on the manager, there’s no doubt about that,” Jenas said.
“Whatever he’s doing with this group of players and whatever fear he’s struck into this group of players it’s there for everybody to see, it’s plain as day that whatever he’s done to them over the past two or three months the fruits of it are on the pitch and I’m seeing players that just don’t have a way of player, and it’s a long way back from that.”
It’s hard to disagree after seeing the way Spurs played against Chelsea earlier this week, but to question Mourinho at this point does seem a little harsh.
He’s without Harry Kane, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso, and two of their three consecutive losses have come against Liverpool and Chelsea – two teams that are never easy to beat.
Mourinho does need to get Spurs back to winning ways, and we know that he’s capable of getting them back playing well. After all, this is the same team who demolished Manchester United 6-1 earlier this season.
Things seem bleak at the moment, but it may be a little bit too early to be blaming the manager.
