Matt Targett has stated that the atmosphere at places like Leeds United’s Elland Road is ‘normally good’, as he told Amazon Prime.

The Aston Villa defender touched upon how his team will face a ‘completely different’ welcome when they face off against Leeds at their place this season.

The two teams were supposed to meet just before the festive period, but the game got postponed due to COVID issues.

Just like the rest of the Premier League, many teams, including those in Leeds and Villa colours, have seen their matches called off because of the virus.

For Marcelo Bielsa’s side, it is perhaps a little relief because they were, at the time, on a bad run and he had to deal with an injury-ravaged squad.

Whilst the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper are still out, things are far better than what they were previously.

But when Villa do eventually travel down to Yorkshire to face Leeds, this is what Targett had to say about their fans.

“We played their last season without a crowd,” said Targett. “But, I am sure, this season will be completely different.

“The atmosphere is normally good when you go to places like that.”

Villa recorded all three points at Leeds last season, but during the earlier fixture, they were thrashed on home soil when Patrick Bamford struck a hat-trick.

Whilst the Leeds-Villa game is yet to be rescheduled, Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping his striker’s bad luck with injuries is behind him now.

The England international is available and he might just return to action during Leeds’ FA Cup clash against West Ham on Sunday.

The Whites travel down to London hoping to put their name into the hat for the next round.
