Michael Obafemi has said that Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez is up there with the best players he has ever faced, on Rising Baller’s Instagram channel.

The Southampton youngster came up against Sanchez earlier this season, when the Saints took on Tottenham.

And it seems that the rapid forward was very impressed by Sanchez’s display.

“Fikayo Tomori, Davinson Sánchez and van Dijk,” he said, when asked the best defenders he has faced so far.

For Sanchez’s name to be included is a slight surprise, as the Tottenham defender has not enjoyed his best season to date.

Despite possessing some enviable qualities, there has been disappointment around Tottenham about Sanchez’s lack of progress.

Spurs paid big money to sign the Colombian three years ago, but he is still yet to really nail down a place in their starting line-up.

Sanchez is still too prone to errors to be entirely reliable, with some of his performances this term being very shaky.

The hope around Spurs is that Jose Mourinho can be the perfect mentor for Sanchez, and help him to fullfil his obvious potential over the coming years.
