Newcastle have landed a boost in their pursuit of Donny van de Beek as Manchester United have invited the Dutchman to present the club with offers for a loan transfer, ESPN report.

Van de Beek is considering his future at Old Trafford and will assess any potential deals as they arrive. He has reservations over his status in Ralf Rangnick’s plans at the club, after continuing to hold just a backup role following the Red Devils firing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rangnick has so far only fielded the 24-year-old for six-minutes across two Premier League appearances from a possible five. He has also left the midfielder on the bench during their last three fixtures, despite offering Van de Beek assurances over his role going forward.

Van de Beek would be ready to stay at Manchester United if he felt more opportunities are forthcoming. But he is considering leaving in a bid to regain a place in the Netherlands side for the World Cup. Luis van Gaal has not included him in any of his squads since last March.

Rangnick has told Van de Beek he would like him to stay at Manchester United until at least the summer. But he is also aware a number of his squad are unhappy with their situations.

So, Manchester United have informed Van De Beek that his agents can present offers for a loan transfer. But any suitor will have to cover his £120k-a-week wage and pay a loan fee.

Rangnick will also have the final say on whether or not the Red Devils’ £35m man leaves in January. Yet Manchester United’s position on a loan transfer should appeal to Newcastle.

The Mirror reported on New Year’s Day that Newcastle are interested in securing a transfer for Van de Beek if Manchester United sanction his exit to strengthen their survival hopes.

Newcastle should have no issue covering Van de Beek’s Manchester United salary in a loan transfer following their Saudi-led takeover. The chance to play regularly at St James’ Park may also appeal to the Dutchman if Eddie Howe is willing to guarantee him minutes.
