Brentford boss Thomas Frank admits that he and the Bees are now ‘waiting to sell’ Arsenal target David Raya.

Arsenal are chasing Brentford goalkeeper David Raya and Thomas Frank admits that he is now waiting to sell the Spaniard.

Frank has been quoted by Goal as Raya’s future comes into focus ahead of the new Premier League season.

The former Blackburn Rovers stopper is out of contract in 2024 and Brentford are looking to sell now before he leaves for nothing.

Frank has now admitted that he hopes Brentford do receive a cash offer for Raya soon as the Bees are ‘waiting to sell’.

Frank admitted that Raya would like to leave Brentford and the club are happy with that stance.

Still, Brentford are waiting for somebody to come up with the right offer for Raya’s signature.

Frank thinks this kind of situation ‘should be simple’ but the situation actually appears ‘very difficult’ as things stand.

“I hope [we get an offer], we are waiting to sell,” said Frank. “David would like to go. That’s fine for us. If a club want to buy [him] they just need to find out the price. I guess it should be simple, but apparently it’s very difficult!” he added.

Arsenal keen to sign David Raya

This is all the encouragement Arsenal need really, with Brentford clearly open to letting Raya leave.

The Gunners would love to sign Raya as competition for Aaron Ramsdale and have wanted him for a long time.

Fabrizio Romano stated on YouTube that Arsenal have contacted Raya’s representatives to discuss a potential move.

Contract details have been discussed with Raya now believed to prefer a move to Arsenal over Bayern Munich.

Bayern wanted to land Raya with Yann Sommer believed to be heading for Inter Milan.

However, they only offered a loan deal – something neither Brentford nor Raya are interested in this summer.

Arsenal seem to be the most likely destination for Raya but Brentford will be sticking to their £40million price tag, giving the Gunners a lot of work to do.
