West Ham United forward Gianluca Scamacca believes Arsenal are getting an absolute bargain in Declan Rice.

Arsenal’s deal for Declan Rice is actually ‘too low’ according to West Ham United teammate Gianluca Scamacca.

Scamacca has been speaking to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as translated by Sempre Inter.

The subject of Rice unsurprisingly came up and Scamacca offered the midfielder enormous praise.

Scamacca didn’t have the debut season he wanted at West Ham but he still saw more than enough of Rice’s quality.

The Italian striker suggested that Rice reminds him of Steven Gerrard and is simply the best midfielder he has ever played with.

Scamacca even suggested that the enormous fee Arsenal are paying for Rice is actually ‘too low’ because he is just that good.

“If anything, that’s too low! He’s a great player, he reminds me of Gerrard,” said Scamacca. “He’s the best midfielder I’ve ever played with,” he added.

How much are Arsenal paying for Declan Rice?

Arsenal have been chasing Rice for months and are finally on the verge of signing him.

The Guardian report that the total value of Rice’s move to Arsenal is £105million.

£100million of that is guaranteed and Arsenal will pay it in instalments, with the final payment coming in the summer of 2025.

Arsenal allegedly wanted to structure the deal over five years but West Ham said no, meaning they must now pay up inside two years.

The extra £5million almost feels irrelevant given the value of the guaranteed fee but it all adds up – and Scamacca clearly feels it isn’t enough.

Why haven’t Arsenal announced Rice yet?

This deal has been seemingly agreed for a while now and yet Rice still isn’t officially an Arsenal player.

Fans are left questioning just why Arsenal haven’t confirmed the deal yet – and West Ham are getting annoyed.

Sky Sports claim that West Ham are ‘frustrated’ with the hold-up in Rice’s move to the Emirates Stadium.

It’s stated that the delay is coming from Arsenal’s lawyers, who have been drawing up paperwork for West Ham to sign.

West Ham still don’t have the contracts in their possession though and that means the deal is stalling.

Rice is expected to complete his move soon enough, but if the delays continue into next week, Arsenal supporters may go from a state of worry to one of panic.
